Pediatric Obesity Conference

On Saturday, April 9, 2016, the NE KY AHEC, together with St. Claire Regional Hospital, Morehead State University, and the Gateway Wellness Coalition, hosted the Pediatric Obesity Conference at the CHER building in Morehead, KY.  This full-day conference was targeted to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practioners, nurses, social workers, and other interested health care professionals.

  • Identify the prevalence and contributing factors of pediatric obesity in Kentucky. 
  • Recognize national recommendations for assessing pediatric obesity and associated co-morbidities.
  • Describe evidence-based goal setting and intervention approaches for addressing pediatric obesity.
  • List potential advocacy targets and implementation strategies for addressing pediatric obesity.

    This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the  Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education   (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Northeast Kentucky AHEC, Morehead State University, and the Gateway Wellness Coalition.  The Northeast Kentucky AHEC is accredited by the KMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  

    The Northeast Kentucky AHEC designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1  Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    Continuing Nursing Education
    St. Claire Regional Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN).   KBN approval of a continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content nor commercial sponsors.  This educational activity is offered for a maximum of 8.7 KBN contact hours for nurses.  In order to receive credit for this session, participants must complete the entire CNE activity and submit an evaluation form.
