Amanda Fannin, originally from Carter County, has been selected to participate in the Summer Health Internship Program (SHIP), a paid six-week internship for undergraduate health care students hosted by the Northeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center.
Fannin, a 2002 graduate of West Carter High School, is currently a student at Ashland Community and Technical College studying medical information technology. She will be interning at the Northeast Kentucky Regional Health Information Organization (NEKY RHIO), where she will assist with a health information technology project that includes healthcare quality improvement consultation, health IT service and support, health IT workforce training, office workflow and redesign, and HIPAA.
"I'm really excited to be working with NEKY RHIO this summer and very thankful for this internship opportunity," says Amanda. I hope to learn new skills and be able to apply what I've learned."
