Successful Training and Educating Pre-Medical Students I (STEPS I)

Successful Training in Educating Pre-medical Students I (STEPS I) is targeted at upcoming college sophomores in or from the NE AHEC region who are planning to attend medical school. This unique program is a 2 part program that provides college students the opportunity to receive specialized job shadowing, networking, community service and some MCAT preparation and tutoring. The program will run June 2017-May 2018.


Eligibility

Students must:
  • Attending college within our 17-county region OR permanent address in the NE AHEC’s service that is attending college elsewhere.
  • Be a upcoming sophomore pursuing an MD or DO degree
  • 3.25 GPA

To Apply

  • Fill out the STEPS I application, which includes a 500 word essay, and submit it before 4:30 p.m. on March 31, 2017. 
  • Submit 2 letters of recommendation from your college faculty. These MUST be mailed directly from the faculty members to the below address. 
  • Mail in an official college transcript to the below address.

If all requirements are met, students will automatically be accepted into the STEPS II program during their junior year.
